This is actually coming from my Tumblr account, but I figured I’d add it here in case no one follows me there. This post is about Ikemen Sengoku’s Shingen Takeda and what I think about his routes overall.
When I started playing Ikemen Sengoku, I was instantly an Oda girl. No doubt about it. It still hasn’t changed. After seeing the love and praises for Shingen, I decided to give him a try. I mean, why not, right? I had no idea what I was getting myself into with his route. I had originally thought there would be some sort of betrayal from the MC. But I was taken by surprise what exactly happened to cause her to slowly fall for Shingen
There is absolutely nothing to not like about Shingen. Well, maybe the idea he had been a womanizer might not be so charming; but his flirting, his cheesy puns, the secret caring side beneath his intimidating exterior, and good looks really made him seem likable. I should add that his route, have you not played it before; is rather angsty for reasons I will not say.
Shingen comes across as a man that could sweep you off your feet with words alone. His original plan, which he even admits to MC, was to be a jerk and kidnap MC, or who he assumed tobe Nobunaga’s mistress. But he ends up falling in love with her. And he is very much like Hideyoshi in some instances. Both realize they love her, and they both cruelly push her away and react pretty much the same way but for different reasons. Hideyoshi was nasty to MC because of his loyalty to Nobunaga, and lack of trust towards MC. Shingen flat out used her.

Shingen
MC first met Shingen in Azuchi, where he was walking around and he came across her and immediately gave her the cheesiest pick up line ever. The second time he sees her, is at a battle with Nobunaga, who decided to bring her with him. Shingen soon gets the idea to kidnap her. Soon after, Shingen tries to pamper MC as much as he possibly can, giving her a lavish room, instead of a dungeon, which Kenshin wanted to do, obviously. Shingen makes nightly visits to her room, or almost every night, I should say. He goes to see her and makes the excuse to see the moon with her.
Although the visits were obviously to try to get information out of her, I do think Shingen also was truly interested in MC. Each encounter, MC treats him horribly and almost breaks into a smile once, but manages to control herself. But it is understandable why MC treated him horribly, despite his efforts to make her smile. She was taken from a place she was comfortable with and called home, and got along with all the Oda guys. But you can’t help but feel bad for Shingen trying so hard.
Shingen has his flaws, just like the others. I can’t compare him to Yukimura or Kenshin because I haven’t done their routes. I have heard Yukimura on Shingen’s drama cd, and although I found him humorous, and Yoshimasa Hosoya (who was Yukimura before he had to go on hiatus) was very good as him; Yukimura’s personality is just not my cup of tea; same as Kenshin. Shingen’s nasty personality comes out anytime Nobunaga is mentioned or seen. But it’s the endings, especially Romantic that I really, really love. It’s a happy ending for everyone, even the Oda. Shingen mans up and is the one that initiates a truce, and has MC be the neutral negotiator/keeper of the peace. Seeing Shingen suffer from his sickness is pretty heartbreaking, and the way he pushes MC away, and sends her back to the Oda is pretty sad. And he acts like a complete ass when he does it. Even Kenshin feels bad in his own way because Sasuke, Yukimura and Kenshin are out to see her off. The fact that he offered to yell at Shingen, kill Shingen, etc reveals that MC grew on him. Shingen goes to battle, ending up coughing a lot of blood, and Mitsuhide had revealed that Shingen might not make it during the battle.
Once MC rushes to him, Shingen tries his best to stay cold at her- again very similar to Hideyoshi, but when MC reunited with Hideyoshi, he was 100 percent love bug . She reveals that it was both their agreements on the bet, not just Shingen, and she also tells him that she loved him. Shingen’s loving side returns and he hugs and kisses her. It gets steamy and they finally make love to one another. It turns out Shingen never wanted MC to find out about his illness and that was why he sent her away. MC tells him the truth; that she was from the future. Shingen seems to accept MC’s admission of being from the future, and he also realizes that he may be able to continue on living if he gets medical help in the future. So there is hope for the two lovebirds after all.
Romantic Route: It’s a quick trip to the future to save Shingen. You get to see the Oda forces again in the epilogue. Which is a lovely surprise.
Dramatic: He gets to experience life in the future. The Oda are only mentioned when MC wants to visit them.
In the end of the routes, I ended up falling in love with Shingen. As much as I did with Hideyoshi. As I mentioned before, I feel they are alike in some ways. Shingen is very flirty, but he is very loving and caring. Hideyoshi is naturally very caring, but he is also very loving and romantic. He just is able to hide it away better than Shingen can in some ways.
In the end, if you haven’t tried Tiger of Kai’s route and you play Ikemen Sengoku- give him a try. There’s so much more to it than what I’ve written here.
