Here we are , moving on to Volume 2. With this series, the story keeps getting better and better- but for Fumi, things become rocky- but only a little bit. She discovers her dad threw his back out and hasn’t been working on a boat in awhile. This throws Fumi in a bind, and she feels like she needs to get a second job. She applies and gets a job at a Girl’s Club, and then tells Akatsuki that she has a part time job. He questions if she needs money, and she tries to avoid answering the question.
It’s bad enough that when she spills water all over her clothing, her boss has someone get her new clothes. And that someone is Fumi’s classmate. But he’s not the only one to find out; Akatsuki and his editor, Gorou discover this when they arrive. Akatsuki figures out she’s working there, and grabs Fumi by the arm and leaves the Girl’s Club. He scolds her for working in a place like that, especially since she is not old enough.
The story then slowly moves in a different direction, in a way that Fumi and Akatsuki get to know each other better. Akatsuki sees that Fumi loves to go grocery shopping, and Fumi learns Akatsuki has never really had vegetables because his mother never liked using them. By the end of volume 2, there is definitely a shift on their feelings towards each other, especially Fumi.
And then, we find out Fumi has some competition with another woman, who has had feelings for Akatsuki for a long time. In the beginning of Volume 3, there is a bigger introduction to Katsura, but to finish off Volume 2, Katsura threatens Fumi that she’d regret it if she comes between Katsura and Akatsuki. The way Katsura is written, the reader will want to hate her, and root for Fumi.
It’s a great way to end the volume, because it makes you really look forward to the next volume, which I will cover next.
