Before there was Kamigami no Asobi, there was…the original game, obviously. Since I JUST got a copy of it, I’m still playing around with the routes. In this game, it only focuses on the first eight Gods. Takeru, Tsukito, Apollon, Hades, Balder, Loki, Thoth and Anubis. Thor and Dionysus are in the game as well, but they are supporting characters just like Melissa.
As mentioned before, Zeus brings Yui to a school he created, but the reason is to help the

older gods and humans bring back a closer bond between them. All the gods Zeus had chosen has some sort of flaw. For example, Takeru (Susanoo) is the moodiest jerk you come across, Apollon has a past history that he can’t let go (if anyone that likes Greek mythology remembers the story of Apollo and Cassandra, that’s it), and Hades just doesn’t want socialize with anyone as he thinks he’ll cause misery. He isn’t actually mean, it seems. It just feels like he wants to avoid trouble.
I’ve chosen Loki and Takeru as my first routes; there are a couple of save slots, so I have a slot for both. Loki is completely different in the game then he is in the anime. He doesn’t really treat Yui like garbage, but he does get upset when he finds out Yui is human. He avoids her after the discovery of this, and it’s up to Thor, always the voice of reason, to fix the situation. What does he do? He basically says if Loki isn’t interested, then he might just get to know Yui. Loki gets pissed off and he makes it completely obvious that he still likes Yui.

Loki is still a prankster, always trying to get into trouble. In the beginning when Yui is walking around the schoolyard, she hears a voice and it’s Loki, and his singsong voice just reeks of trouble. He leads her hand in hand across the field, where they spotted Takeru.
Loki instigates an argument with the sleeping god of the sea, ready to draw on his face with markers! This is when Takeru’s anger starts to show. Despite the trouble Loki causes a lot of the time, he can be really, really sweet. He is best friends with Balder, and Thor has the job of looking after both of them. And that in itself is a big job. I will add more to this post as I continue his route.
Now Takeru, I’ve gotten a bit further with him because I adore the character, despite he starts off being a complete ass. As the story progresses and Yui is able to get him to open up, we see he is actually very sensitive and very caring. Takeru decides to protect her for now on, and it gets really good. Yui is able to convince Zeus to create training camps for everyone to get more involved with their club activities. Now Yui had been able to get Takeru to join the Kendo club basically, so they go up to a dojo in the mountains, bringing Tsukito along as Takeru thinks it’s bad for a girl and a guy to stay in the same place without being married. Tsukito is in the literature club, so he writes his novel as Takeru and Yui train. And then….

They share a futon because Zeus only put one futon in the dojo. Takeru argues that he can sleep on the floor, but Yui feels bad. So she comes up with the idea of spreading the blanket out and Takeru agrees. Yui is hesitant at getting on the futon with Takeru, and is on the far end of the bed. Takeru asks why she is so far away, and that she could move closer. Yui is still hesitant but she moves closer. She sleeps and then there is a solid thump against her that wakes her up. Takeru rolled over and wrapped his arms around her, talking in his sleep. This part is sooo adorable, it’s a completely different side of the temperamental god. I’ve gotten up to this point and will definitely discuss what else happens in the route. This route is so emotional, I don’t want to even think about the Fate endings.
I will talk about the routes of each god in more detail, so stay tuned for a thorough discussion about Takeru and Yui, followed by Loki and Yui.
