Well I’m finally back after finishing my very last semester at my university. Took long enough, but it’s done. Now I can focus on the blog once more. I want to claim right now that I don’t own any rights to these games I review or make any profit. These are just reviews and thoughts I share for those looking for more visual novels to play around with. I’m a sucker for romance…what can I say?

As I have blogged about Otome games in the past, particularly Kamigami no Asobi, I have discovered at least THREE amazing ones for the phone. All three are by the company CYBIRD and their work is absolutely beautiful. So I’m going to give my thoughts on each game.

The first game I started playing with is Ikemen Vampire. The synopsis is that the main character is visiting the Louvre and ends up stumbling through a door that leads to a strange new place; a mansion in fact. It always seems to be the main character manages to find themselves in a different world/time etc. But that doesn’t make it less interesting.

Ikemen Vampire is as you may have guessed about the main character and her experiences with vampires. These guys aren’t just plain vampires. These guys are well-known men from history. Such as Napoleon Bonaparte, Mozart, Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci, etc.

As of right now, you can play the routes of four of the twelve men; the four being Mozart, Napoleon Bonaparte, Leonardo Da Vinci…and Arthur Conan Doyle. They have a romantic route, and the dramatic love route. I finished the Mozart romantic route already and it’s absolutely beautiful. I will discuss more of this in a post about Mozart himself.

Personalities:

Arthur Conan Doyle comes across as a disgusting flirt that chases after every woman he sees, but the main character sees a huge difference in him as she spends time with him. He’s actually pretty funny and as you play through the route, you find out there is more to him than the flirtatious behavior that he shows in the beginning of the game. This makes the main character have a bad impression of Arthur in the beginning and feels that she might be in danger from him alone.

Mozart is the tsundere of the bunch so far. But there are two others that might fall into the category as well, but because they don’t have routes completed yet, it’s hard to say. Mozart is pretty cold to the main character in the beginning, but  in the end he’s actually a very sensitive and loving character.

Napoleon. Well. I’m working on his route right now and he would be the perfect gentleman. Mozart I loved right away, but Napoleon really makes it hard to have a single favorite. Napoleon wants to help MC escape the mansion almost as soon as she arrived. He’s dashing, caring but with a very serious look to him.

Obviously he is NOTHING  like the actual Napoleon in history appearance wise. That is for sure. At first he calls it a chore to be the bodyguard for MC, but as you go through his route, he drastically changes his feelings towards her.  I would like to think he’s got the charismatic charm because he is a Frenchman, but to be honest, anyone can have that.

He definitely cares for MC from the beginning, and what’s interesting is that, unlike the others that turned to vampires thanks to the head vampire Comte de Saint-Germain who turned them and took them to the mansion, Napoleon was not part of that. He just showed up and didn’t know why. It should be noted that Napoleon is more human than vampire for a long time in his route. He is more of a Demi-vampire.

Route Battles:

There are route battles that you play against other players so you can raise your intimacy with the guy of your choosing. You can also receive gold.

I haven’t experienced any losses yet, but the worst thing you can get is a draw. You still get gold and intimacy but it’s halved. If you get an excellent, you are able to go on a “secret date” with your vampire.

There are lovely images throughout the game/routes and you can collect them in your “memories” in the photo section. You can also receive “side stories” when you do things like “avatar challenges” and intimacy challenges.

The only problem is that some of the things you need if you want a premium side story, then you have to purchase diamonds to get them. BUT the prices are not so bad compared to other games. In fact it’s pretty darn cheap.

Another thing is that when you receive cards from doing a “gacha” round with tickets you can get occasionally from logging into the game. You can set up your home page with a picture of any of the guys. Not only that, but they will talk to you. And if you stay on the home page and don’t do anything for a minute or so, they will speak to you again with a new sentence.

For being an otome game released on the App Store, it’s just as good as any games you would get for the PSP or the Vita (which I still use to this day). I will review each route I manage to finish so you can get an idea how the gameplay is, and see the personalities in all of them.

Seeing that there are only four right now, and another appearing very soon, I won’t be able to cover all of them right away. Enjoy!
