This is may be one of the most amusing shojou manga series I have come across. Volumes 1 and 2 have been been released, while Volume 3 has just been released the beginning of June. The author, Yuki Shiwasu has stated in the beginning of the novel, that it was originally a one-shot series. But now it’s an ongoing series. The author has brought two main characters to life in such a brilliant way. We have Takane, a twenty something year old rich guy, and Hana, a sixteen year old high school student.

Takane is set up for an arranged marriage meeting, and it was intended to be for Hana’s older sister, Yukari. Of course,  Yukari doesn’t want to go to the meeting, so their father dresses up Hana and takes her to meet Takane instead.

Takane comes across rude and as a jerk. He’s a stereotypical spoiled brat who basically gets what he wants. The whole meeting goes awry when Takane insults Hana in front of her father and his grandfather.

Hana is a character who is just as stubborn, and can be as hot-headed as Takane. But she seems to get a kick out of him getting agitated, while he likes to taunt her viciously. She definitely is full of energy as well.

Typically I don’t like when characters are that horrid towards one another, such as Black Prince and Wolf Girl, but this actually is quite different. Unlike Black Prince, where the girl just takes the abuse, Hana is the opposite. And the behavior of the two combined is hilarious. I’m not going to reveal the whole storyline, but I can say it’s a great series to read.

We learn that Takane knew all along that Hana wasn’t Yukari and he tells Hana that he is interested in her instead. He starts arriving at her school, determined to change her mind in seeing him, and she makes it tough for him. Hana finally agrees to see him but only after he threatens her about her father keeping his job.

Volume 1 introduces us to the characters and their individual personalities. It is revealed later on that Hana’s sister regrets not going to the meeting with Takane, and Hana says she’s out of luck. Throughout the book, no matter how annoying Takane can be towards Hana, she is, no doubt, developing true feelings for him. He takes her out to nice restaurants and even takes her on a ride in a helicopter. But Hana does get her way, and Takane agrees to go out with her and do things she likes to do. Hana is surprised as all she has seen him in were suits, and he finally dresses down. Hana makes note that he actually looks a lot younger dressed in “normal” clothing.

I can’t say enough positive things about this series. It’s enjoyable from the get-go, and literally is one of those stories that you’ll end up reading in one go, and then return to it a few days later, or maybe even less. I will keep up to date with this manga series as the books come out and share my thoughts on each one. If this genre of manga is one that you enjoy, I strongly suggest trying this one out.
