The Photo Suite. Oh boy that was… interesting this year. The photographers last year were amazing. They took fantastic shots. But this year it was somewhat a hit or a miss. This year I went with the lower resolution photos because I wanted to get all of my cosplay outfits done. I regret it and should have just done two. I’m not even going to post a picture from day two of Otakon, because they aren’t that good. I was actually surprised to see that the Photo Suite wasn’t as busy as it was the following year. There was only one day ,however, that there was quite a bit of a wait because a whole bunch of group photos were being taken. This is only going to be a short page because there’s not much to say really.
First day there, I dressed as Totsuka Takeru from the anime/otome game Kamigami no Asobi
(which surprisingly some people actually recognized the character). The photographer that day was decent but definitely not as great as last year. They pretty much did basic shots and there were no special lighting. At least not that noticeable. Which last year, they did some great shots with blue lighting.
As an absolute beginner with posing for photos, it was a bit awkward because I had no idea how to pose. Last year they actually asked about the character, and they came up with great

ideas with photos. The person this year was kind of just…there. As in he most likely wanted to get the photos done and move on. I don’t know if it’s just me that had bad luck, or if other people had problems with some of the photographers.
I can say though I am happy with the results of the Takeru pictures, the main problem was that the guy was a bit of a dick. This is being completely blunt about it. Everyone else in the Photo Suite was very nice and helpful but ugh..I still get a bit cross about it.
Saturday- it was hot and humid. My wig was frazzled and I was wearing a black/red leather-ish cosplay that ended up being too big because of weight loss. I also thought getting a size up in that material would be a smart thing in case of the heat and the chance the cosplay stuck to my body. I was completely wrong. But yeah…the photos on this day… forget it, those are never to be seen on my blog. They are embarrassing.
Sunday was great, and the photographer was actually really good. She asked about the
character and I told her, and she came up with some really good poses. The character was Kusanagi Yui…again from Kamigami no Asobi but she’s the main character for obvious reasons.
This was a great photo shoot, and I wish I knew who the woman was, that way if she’s there next year, I can only hope to get her again. I won’t say to avoid the Photo Suite if you’ve never done that before, but to be aware of how the photographer acts and how they do your photos. The photos can be pricey depending on the resolution and the amount of photos you have taken. Suggestion: Get a few photos done at first, and if you like them, you can always go back. It’s better to do it that way so you don’t blow all your money, especially if there are things you want from the dealers room.
