Seriously, I always go on Ebay to find really rare Kamigami stuff. I’ve never loved an anime so much in my life. That would be compared to those that are hardcore Naruto, One Piece, or DBZ fans. Give me gods and I’m hooked; I guess that’s kind of sad, but at least I can call the anime my own. Well besides them all being cuties, both games are amazingly good: both heart-breaking and happy.
The game came out first, and with it, came the merchandise. I had not heard of any of this until…like 2 years after Kami came out. Each character has their own songs, and the
instrumental versions are in the actual anime itself. Because Takeru is my husbando, I found this poster and had to get it. His song is amazing as well as Tsukito’s.
It’s all in Japanese, naturally and it has the voice actors names on it along with the characters names. It’s likely there are poster versions for the others out there, but I haven’t seen any…or I would have snatched the Greeks up too.
It’s a fairly good sized poster, almost as big as a movie poster, which surprised me because it looked smaller in the picture. But then again I was just happy to see a rare item, and didn’t even care what size it was.
The picture on the poster is actually the same one Broccoli/Brains Base used for Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Takeru) and Uemura Yuto’s (Tsukito) soundtrack for the first game. It’s a beautiful
illustration, the blues and purples just make the poster stand out. But the artist has actually done that to all of the album covers. For example Hades has bright red roses and Apollon has bright yellow sunflowers. They represent the sun and the underworld. Since obviously Apollon is a sun god, and Hades rules the Underworld.
What they have done is pretty much color-coordinated each god by what they stand for. Tsukito is lilac (I don’t know why lilac, because he’s Tsukuyomi and is the god of the moon…perhaps a calm color for a calm god?) Takeru is blue since he is Susanoo, the Japanese god of the sea.
When you look closely at the poster you can actually see a jacket by Takeru’s head. Meaning there ARE other posters and if you collect them all it would make one huge poster. The poster looks brand new and arrived in mint condition.
The fact that the company would do all of this to advertise a game, is to me, amazing. Gaming companies over here in the States don’t seem to go through all of this effort for their games. Maybe Call of Duty, or any of those fighting games. But for the most part you don’t see the
mass amount of marketing with games as this one appears to have had, but only in Japan. If they had expanded the advertising over here, there may have possibly been more interest in the game. Sword Art Online for the Vita is one of those that had advertising even on television. I’m assuming Broccoli/Brains Base is extremely protective of their work and would rather have their audience of games be limited.
But I’m rambling. If there are any other Kami fans out there, which I know there are as I am in a community with them, that want more merchandise from the game and anime, Ebay is your best bet. You may be able to find things on Amazon, but those are mainly cheap cosplay outfits (that aren’t priced cheap), wall posters, the second game and DVDs; but nothing that is actually rare. Usually pins and key chains are nicely priced and only once in a great while will you see a poster like this one. Happy Hunting!
