I received my Banpresto Dragon Ball Super Gotenks Master Stars Piece Action Figure today and it’s actually very impressive.  Now some people may ask who exactly is Gotenks. For those who have never watched the DBZ series, Gotenks is actually a fusion of Goku’s son Goten and Vegeta’s son, Trunks.

I was really impressed by the detail of Gotenks. He is my first anime figure from the DBZ series, so I’m not sure what the differences in details are with other DBZ figures. Goten is actually one of my favorite characters on DB Kai/Super, and I think it has to do with the fact I love Goku a lot, and Goten…well…he’s almost like a clone of Goku.

The expression on his face is that similar to Vegeta…grumpy. With this figure, he was similar to Jotaro Kujo, where you put him together. But unlike Jotaro, where you had at least three pieces to put together, you only had to put Gotenks’ head on. Simple enough. Height wise, he actually is bigger than my Yuuki and Sinon, and definitely smaller than Jotaro. He’s 7.5 inches to be precise. He’s more like in the middle of both Jotaro and Sinon/Yuuki.

Gotenks has great detailing in his face. He’s got the little smirk you would see on Vegeta, and his hair is similar to Vegeta’s as well. Which is crazy in a way because Trunks has a weird haircut that reminds me of the early 1990’s and then Goten has the same hairstyle as Goku. So the fusion between the two really changes their appearances.

The paint job on the figure is really well done, and I’m really impressed with the hair colors. All of these things made it worth buying, and again this is one of those figures I would try to find that was affordable. I was hesitant on buying anything from the DBZ series just because I wasn’t sure how the figures actually looked. It’s a lot harder to look at pictures instead of seeing them in person. I have seen some at Otakon however, but the problem is there was such a big crowd at all the booths, I couldn’t really look at them.

But after getting Gotenks for a reasonable price, and seeing how nicely done this particular figure was made, I definitely won’t hesitate on getting DBZ figures. One issue I had was that the Gotenks figure had pretty much sold out from Amazon itself, but I was able to find him on a third party seller on Amazon. So if you are really, really debating on a figure and there is limited stock, go for it. You may not get the chance to get it again, and you will more than likely be glad you did. I certainly am with Gotenks. This figure is definitely a plus!
