My Bakugo figure arrived today, and it’s pretty decent. He’s got a few
paint smudges on him, but I never expect to get a fully perfect figure; it just can’t be done. The only ones I had gotten that were pretty much perfect was Kamina and Yoko from Gurren Lagann- but then I paid some bucks for those.
Bakugo is never one to hide his emotions. And this figure shows his
anger and irritation full force. His mouth is pretty much wide open, and his lips pretty much curled up in disgust as he yells. For a decently priced figure, that’s not bad detailing on a facial expression at all. Some figures just show some sort of emotional feeling in just the eyes, which can work; but with Bakugo- it’s probably best to go full out with his entire face.
I really like the details of the muscles. You don’t see that in Deku or Todoroki; not in a bad way of course, but Deku is a bit scrawnier compared to Bakugo. The neck muscles are pretty much the best
detailed of the muscles since he is turning his head. But the arm muscles are pretty nice as well.
His Hero uniform is nicely done. His gauntlets look exactly like grenades…well, there is a reason for that. But they are extremely detailed, as well as the rest of the uniform. And this is actually where the paint spots are located. There is one orange spot on a green portion on his calf, just above the boot, but seeing as there are two parts of orange in front an back of the green spot, it could be possible that it was an error that they didn’t catch. The creases in his outfit are, as they have been with other figures, are in great detail. Even with the pose he is in, everything seems to flow just right clothing-wise.
As for the stand- the stand overall is very good, just like the other stands
for Deku and Todoroki. The only part of the stand that I was and still am concerned about, is that it feels a little loose on the side of his butt. When looking at it when I was putting the figure together, it seemed like the part that connects directly to Bakugo is either slightly too small, or the slot on Bakugo himself is too big. It’s hard to say for sure which one it is. Another paint flaw area is his hair.
I get it, hair as spiky as his may be trickier to paint compared to other hairstyles. There seems to be some slight dots of a darker color in parts
of his blonde hair; and the paint seems to be a bit clumpy towards the tips.
Overall the figure is a nice addition to a figure collection, especially for My Hero Academia fans. Again, my expectations are incredibly high when I buy lower priced figures, but for the most part you get more than you expect. This Bakugo is from the “Amazing Heroes, Volume 3” by Bandai/ Banpresto, and you may be able to find this at certain Hot Topic stores, Amazon… and if you are checking out an anime convention, as it’s that time of year again; look out at the dealers’ booths. Chances are they will have this one in stock…unless, of course, they sell out. It’s worth the purchase. Stay tuned for my next figure review….that isn’t My Hero Academia; but none other than Sasuke from Naruto!
