A little about the series.
Diabolik Lovers is a series that people either love or hate. A lot of it has to do with the main character named Yui Komori. She is a weak main character and kind of annoying compared to other female leads in an otome game/reverse harems. However, in the game version, she’s not so bad. Before I talk about the series, and then review each episode- let’s talk about the cast.
The series does indeed have a very good cast -seiyuu wise. Of course, they are the ones, apart from Yui, who do the voices of the fellas in the otome game series as well. The main character, of course doesn’t have a voice because of obvious reasons. Typically in otome games, the female character is in your own point of view, so there is no voice.
The seiyuus and their characters are:
Rie Suegara– Yui Komori
Kosuke Toriumi – Shu Sakamaki
Hikaru Midorikawa -Ayato Sakamaki
Yuki Kaji -Kanato Sakamaki
Daisuke Hirakawa -Leito Sakamaki
Katsuyuki Konishi -Reiji Sakamaki
Takashi Kondō – Subaru Sakamaki
Each episode focuses on each of the guys along with Yui. But in each episode, they all force her to allow them to feed on her; another sign of weakness on her part. I think the episodes are written well, and that’s the most important part in a show- whether it be anime, or television shows. Another positive is that the vampires personalities are all incredibly different. You have the tsundere, the psychotic one, a serious one, the good for nothing, and so on. That also makes characters pretty interesting, and that helps balance out the flaws in Yui.
So with that said, I hope to bring some understanding to the series, and also some interest to it if anyone hasn’t seen it yet. If you can break past Yui’s weak flaws, you’ll actually enjoy the series for the most part. I need to play the game some more to see exactly how different the anime is compared to it.
