The episode starts with Ema with Tsubaki, Azusa, Wataru ….. in the kitchen with a dilemma…no food for dinner. Ukyo is usually the one that gets meals prepared, one of BCEpis5TsubakiEmathe brothers mentions, but he has had many trials, since he is a lawyer. Ema says she’ll go out and get things, and Tsubaki stops her, telling her its just them and Subaru, and suggests they all go out together. Wataru wants a picnic under the cherry blossoms, and Azusa agrees after pointing out family restaurants are boring.

I feel like this particular episode focuses more on Subaru, his basketball performance and then Natsume, both personalities and their rocky relationship. It was only a handful of brothers in this episode too. Those being Wataru, Azusa, Tsubaki, Subaru, Natsume, Ukyo and Masaomi. AND there is a nice little scene with Iori; which there hasn’t been too many scenes with him in it. It’s a nice break from the sometimes cringing scenes with Fuuto.

Tsubaki reminds me slightly of Subaru in Diabolik Lovers in appearance, but his personality is completely different. Tsubaki is completely energetic, and likes to pick on people, but in the kindest way; or at least not to directly hurt them. He is like the comedic one out of all the brothers. Tsubaki calls Natsume and invites him to come to the picnic and basically doesn’t let his brother respond. Natsume ends up coming to the picnic, and BCEpi5NatsumeAzusaTsubaki is making a racket, singing to a whole bunch of people. (Listening closely, I realized it’s the theme song TO the series.) Natsume sits next to Azusa and tells him Tsubaki is pretty much the noisy one, despite being the older brother.

Meanwhile, Subaru is standing at the door at the house and Tsubaki leaves a written note on the door saying they were having a picnic at the park. Subaru mutters they should just message him. He ends up meeting up with Ema who is making her way to get drinks; Subaru offers to help her and asks about Juli. Apparently the little guy got food BCEpi5Subarupoisoning, yet still freaks out when he realizes Ema is with a few of the brothers. Subaru tells Ema to come to the next game; he wants to win in front of her. Obviously at this point Subaru’s feelings for her have blossomed because he seems to be fighting for her in his own quiet way.

Tsubaki, is drunk enough, and asks Subaru and Ema if it was coincidence or not that they were walking together. Subaru says it’s coincidence and asks where Wataru is. They all notice after a moment or so that he is leaning over a fence reaching towards a duck in the water. Natsume rushes towards Wataru, who frightens the duck, which makes a lot of noise. It causes Wataru to fall back, and Natsume heads straight in to the water. When Ema dries Natsume off with a napkin, he asks if it really was coincidence that she was BCEpi5Wataruwalking with Subaru. There is obvious competition between Natsume and Subaru, and not only that, but their relationship is completely unstable.

It’s always shown that the two brothers irritate one another. Or at least Natsume irritates Subaru more than the other. Natsume gets out of the shower and sees Subaru reading in another room. Subaru notices and makes a face, and tries to leave the room without speaking to Natsume.

Natsume starts talking to Subaru about basketball and how he read Subaru was out of the lineup; Subaru tells him he doesn’t know anything about being on the basketball team and to leave him alone.

Ema is walking around and cherry blossoms are blowing around. She tells herself she ought to clean it up, and once she comes outside from the house, she discovers Subaru BCEpi5UkyoEmahad cleaned the whole place up. Iori turns up, and tells Ema that all the brothers have some sort of job/chore to do around the house. Iori tells her that he takes care of the flowers.

Ema realizes that Iori had given her flowers the day she was sick and had arrived at the house. Iori said yes, and then handed her a red tulip. Of course Juli gets very angry, saying it’s a declaration of love, and Ema says there’s no meaning behind it. Ema wants to help cut meat for a meal as she hadn’t done that before, and Ukyo decides to show her since describing it is harder. This is actually the first time we see a very close encounter of Ukyo with Ema.

After Juli attacks Ukyo, Ema and Juli are in her bedroom and she tells Juli she really doesn’t need that kind of protecting. Juli sees she has a date marked off on the calendar and Ema tells him that it is Subaru’s game day and she was going to cheer him on. Natsume also has the date marked down, and heads out to go see Subaru play.

He doesn’t see Subaru on the floor so he thinks Subaru isn’t playing after all. Natsume looks for his seat and finds Ema , wondering why she is there. There is a substitution call and Subaru comes to the floor. Ema cheers him on and he sees her. The whole game he does extremely well, and in the end, his team won the game. After walking out of the building, Natsume offers to BCEpi5SubaruEmahugtake Ema home in his car due to rain, but gets a business call.

Subaru comes running outside and hugs Ema. He thanks her, telling her she had helped by coming there and cheering him on and watching the game. Subaru asks her if she has a boyfriend, and then he admits his feelings to her, wanting to be with her forever. This leaves Ema pretty much speechless. Natsume appears and gets nasty with Subaru, saying it was basically as if he hadn’t won the game at all because there was more he could do. When Subaru storms off not wanting to hear any more of what Natsume has to say, Natsume asks Ema if she was dating Subaru. There is a very long hesitation, and she doesn’t really know what to say because they are  supposed to be siblings. Natsume apologizes for the way he acted, in which he should. But he should be doing that more to Subaru than anything. I think Natsume is trying to help guide Subaru in the direction he needs to focus on basketball, but he’s doing it the wrong way. He’s just an incredibly rude jackass who puts Subaru down.
