I am so sorry for being quiet for so long! School has been hectic with massive amounts of reading, writing papers, etc. Spring break is about to begin, so fear not; there will a massive catch up. I have received more anime series over time, and because of lack of time, I may have to wait until summer to finish Food Wars! There are just way too many episodes in that box set, and I would rather have more time to go into better detail with my reviews. Let’s begin!
Pretty much the episode jumps right in from where it left off in episode three, and that’s
actually what I like with a series like that. You start to watch it, and you’ll be like, “Oh that’s right, that happened last time!” So this is one thing I liked with this episode. Shizu is making breakfast while Haru and her father talk to one another. Towards the end of the conversation, Shizu’s dad asks Haru how he can be so laid back. When Shizu and Haru are at school, Shizu finds out she got an answer wrong, and she is bothered by this. Natsume discusses summer vacation with Haru and Shizu, and Haru seems to be in deep thought. He has an outburst, telling them that he likes bikinis, and Shizu says she isn’t going to the beach.
Shizu leaves to talk to the teacher, and she demands to know how she got the answer wrong. The teacher seems to be in a slump, and doesn’t want to help Shizu. Shizu tells her it is work hours so do the job. The teacher tells her that her answer wasn’t wrong,
nor was it right. But when Shizu realizes she had gotten dumped, the teacher fixes her grade. As Shizu leaves, she ponders on her relationship with Haru and how he had rejected her. It seems to bothering her a lot, and she then questions herself how did she end up liking Haru.
She walks past Haru, and he sees her. If he noticed something was off with her, he doesn’t seem to realize it. But it certainly is obvious to those watching this. Two girls lose their volleyball as it rolls over to Haru, who is taking care of his rooster. They gasp,
looking at Haru, realizing who it is, and Haru hands the ball to them. They panic and run off because apparently all Haru does is glare at people. Shizu tells Haru that he shouldn’t glare at people and that she likes when he smiles.
This seems to hit Haru hard as he goes off pouting under a window at their school. A student is clapping two chalkboard erasers together and she realizes Haru is sitting under the window. She screams of course and apologizes profusely. Haru stands up and gives her a smile and tells her it’s okay. Haru has smiled before, but it’s always with Shizu, not too much with other people. It’s when Haru begins to smile more, that girls start to realize he’s much hotter, and they start paying attention to him more.
This starts to worry Shizu and Natsume asks if she is jealous. Shizu starts to leave, and she notes that it is jealous, and basically realizes now what it feels like to be jealous. It has been quite interesting to see just how much Shizu had changed since the beginning
of the series. First she hated him and wanted nothing to do with him, and suddenly now she has somewhat of a crush on him.
Shizu, Sasayan and Natsume are talking to one another and Sasayan tells them about Haru’s past and basically how his violent behavior began. The girls ask why he cares about Haru so much and he tells them that he owes Haru.
Haru ends up getting into another fight, which hasn’t happened in a long time, but as I see it, he was trying to defend a girl that another guy was harassing. Haru grabs him, and the guy punches him, which only infuriates Haru more. So what happens? Haru starts
beating the living daylights out of him. He stops and looks around and notices the shocked/terrified looks on everyone’s faces. Shizu asks what he is doing, and when she hears someone yelling, she grabs Haru’s hand and they take off running.
Haru says she is kind of like a hero that comes to someone on time, and gets them out of a pinch. Shizu thought the other people were “in a pinch.” Sasayan comes by when it gets a subtle hint of flirtation between Haru and Shizu, and he tells Haru they need to finish their match. This causes Haru and Shizu to panic. Haru starts to leave but he comes back and tells Shizu he wants to hang out with her on their vacation.
They all end up going river fishing, and Micchan has joined them. Natsume is in a bikini and seems to catch the attention of both Micchan and Sasayan. Thee guys catch fish and sit around as the fish are cooked. Micchan mentions Haru’s brother which then Haru goes into a foul mood.
Micchan drives them back to his house, and they all start heading up the stairs. Haru sees his brother Yuzan, and takes off running back downstairs. Micchan wonders why, and then he sees Yuzan. Shizu, Sasayan and Natsume get to learn more about Yuzan, and
he “seems” happy that Haru has friends like them. He learns Shizu was one of the biggest reasons on how Haru went back to school, but Shizu denies it.
Yuzan looks at her, and calls Haru an idiot, but he asks that she takes care of Haru. When Shizu leaves, she says good night to her friends and starts walking down the road. Just like before, she’s snatched and pulled into an alley. This seems to be Haru’s biggest habit with Shizu. Haru asks what took her so long and asked if they smashed a watermelon. She tells him no, and then asks about his brother. All Haru will say is that he hates him, and when Shizu asks more, he tells her to shut up and she begins to leave.
Shizu decides to come back, and Haru thought she was angry and went home. She tells
him that she did. Shizu then tells him they have watermelons at her home, and he can come over if he wants. He does, and Haru tells Shizu he’s sorry and that he needs to make it up to her. So she demands a date, and catches Haru by surprise. But he doesn’t refuse. So the episode ends with somewhat of a happy ending. But it still seems as though Shizu is bothered with things.
