This is going to be one of the shorter reviews because there really isn’t a lot to say about it. Mainly because it focuses heavily on the cooking challenge. It’s an episode that is both ridiculous and funny…or ridiculously funny, to be more precise. And it is just that because of the reactions to food and Mito’s outfits. She’s portrayed with extremely low-rise shorts, and is very, very busty. She wears bikini tops and… well. I’ll leave it at that.
It’s obvious everyone
at the school remembers Soma as the transfer kid that talked a bunch of crap in the beginning of school, and they dislike him. And they doubt he could beat Mito in the cooking challenge. This is clearly seen closer to the end of the episode.
Well the episode starts off with massive boobs. The tops keep changing, and we see it’s Mito (Nikumi) trying to find the perfect outfit for the challenge. Not one of the outfits work for her, and she tells herself that she needs to give it her best.
Konishi sees Soma and asks him if he had gotten any sleep after all the dishes he was trying to make. Soma says he had tweaked the sauce a bit for the meal he had chosen and
admits he only got two hours sleep. Meanwhile
The food challenge is basically Nikumi versus Bowl-Soc. Soma is representing the Bowl-Soc. and is so confident that he’s going to in. Sometimes it seems like his confidence is going to become his enemy at some point. As in he’ll think he’s going to win, and actually loses.
So the food war is officially authorized. It has been well noted throughout the episode that Mito only uses A5 ranked beef in her dishes; which is the highest quality of meat. Erina had described Mito’s handling of meat like she was a pianist.
The challenge is about to start and so the announcer brings out Mito first, and everyone is cheering and talking about her dishes. When they finally announce Soma to come out,
the whole place goes nuts and boos at him. Megumi tells Soma not to panic, but it’s actually her pacing back and forth, getting extremely nervous. The theme for the cooking challenge is actually rice bowls with meat.
It is mentioned that the loser will lose everything, meaning Mito will lose her cooking room, and if Soma loses, he’d have to leave the school. Erina comes to watch the challenge, and naturally the other students make a big deal about it. Mito and Soma bring out their ingredients and while Mito has high quality meat, Soma bought his
ingredients at half price, most likely due to his father slacking on wiring Soma funds to get by on, and the fact that Bowl-Soc has no budget left. The students are shocked that Soma has done that, and at that point think he has no chance against Mito.
This is a good lesson though, that even if you spend a lot of money on good quality ingredients, it won’t always work out for you. This is the case for Mito. She makes a beef bowl that looks like a big flower, and while the judges found it tasty, and actually thought the design of the flower was nice, there was something off with her meal. And Soma had noticed when he saw rice remaining in the judges bowls.
This ends up coming out well for Soma as he uses pickled plum to flavor up the dish. It results in the judges eating their bowls non-stop and once they finish, they want more. Soma offers Mito a sample, and she accepts. She claims that the food whispers to her, and makes her feel like she can do whatever she wants.
At this point the judges decide Soma is the winner, and Erina, who is all pissed off, walks away and instantly says to clear out Mito’s cooking room. Seeing that Mito lost the challenge, she has to keep her word and join Bowl-Soc. Soma looks back at Mito, and tells her that he’s looking forward to working with her.
